Chief Priest

Mt2:4 When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born.

Mt16:21From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Mt20:18 "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death

Mt21:15But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.

Mt21:15But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.

Mt21:23Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?"

Mt21:45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was talking about them.

Mt21:46They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.

Mt26:3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,

Mt26:4  and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him.

Mt26:5 "But not during the Festival," they said, "or there may be a riot among the people."

Mt26:47While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people.

Mt26:48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him."

Mt27:1Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people came to the decision to put Jesus to death.

Mt27:2They bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate the governor.

Mt27: 3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders.

Mt27:4 "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."

Mt27:6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money."

Mt27:7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners.

Mt27:12When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.

Mt27:13 Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?"

Mt27:17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?"

Mt27:18For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.

Mt27:20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

Mt27:21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor. "Barabbas," they answered.

Mt27:22 "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"

Mt27:23 "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

Mt27:41In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him.

Mt27:42"He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

Mt27:43He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

Mt27:62The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.

Mt27:63 "Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.'

Mt27:64So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."

Mt27:65 "Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how."

Mt27:66So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

Mt28:12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money,

Mt28:13 telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.'

Mt28:14If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."

Mt28:15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

Mk8:31He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

Mk15:1 Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.

Mk15:3The chief priests accused him of many things.

Mk 15:10knowing it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.

Mk 15:11But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead.

Lk19:47 Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.

Lk19:48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.

Lk20:1 One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.

Lk20:2 "Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?"

Lk20:3 He replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me,

Lk20:4 John's baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin?"

Lk20:5 They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Why didn't you believe him?'

Lk20:6 But if we say, 'Of human origin,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet."

Lk20:7 So they answered, "We don't know where it was from."

Lk20:8 Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

Lk20:19The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.

Lk20:20 Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.

Lk20:21 So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.

Lk20:22 Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

Lk20:23 He saw through their duplicity and said to them,

Lk20:24 "Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?" "Caesar's," they replied.

Lk20:25 He said to them, "Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

Lk20:26 They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.

Lk22:2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.

Lk22:4And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.

Lk22:5They were delighted and agreed to give him money.

Lk22:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?

Lk22:66 At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.

Lk22:67 "If you are the Messiah," they said, "tell us."  Jesus answered, "If I tell you, you will not believe me,

Lk22:68 and if I asked you, you would not answer.

Lk24:20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;

Jn7.32 The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.

Jn18.19Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching.

Jn18.22When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face. "Is this the way you answer the high priest?" he demanded.

Jn18:24Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest

Jn18.35"Am I a Jew?" Pilate replied. "Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?"

Jn19.6As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him."

Jn19.15But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!"
"Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked.
"We have no king but Caesar," the chief priests answered.

Jn19.21The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, "Do not write 'The King of the Jews,' but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews."

Ac9:14And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your Name”
