gods

Gen 31:19  When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father's household gods.

Gen 31:30  Now you have gone off because you longed to return to your father's household. But why did you steal my gods?"

Gen 31:32  But if you find anyone who has your gods, that person shall not live. In the presence of our relatives, see for yourself whether there is anything of yours here with me; and if so, take it." Now Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen the gods.

Gen 31:34  Now Rachel had taken the household gods and put them inside her camel's saddle and was sitting on them. Laban searched through everything in the tent but found nothing.

Gen 31:35  Rachel said to her father, "Don't be angry, my lord, that I cannot stand up in your presence; I'm having my period." So he searched but could not find the household gods.

Gen 35:2  So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.

Gen 35:4  So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.

Exo 12:12  "On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.

Exo 15:11  Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you-- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

Exo 18:11  Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly."

Exo 20:3  "You shall have no other gods before me.

Exo 20:23  Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.

Exo 23:13  "Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.

Exo 23:24  Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces.

Exo 23:32  Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.

Exo 23:33  Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you."

Exo 32:1  When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."

Exo 32:4  He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

Exo 32:8  They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'

Exo 32:23  They said to me, 'Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.'

Exo 32:31  So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

Exo 34:15  "Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices.

Exo 34:16  And when you choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods, they will lead your sons to do the same.

Lev 19:4  "'Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.

Num 25:2  who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods.

Num 33:4  who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had brought judgment on their gods.

Deu 4:7  What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?

Deu 4:28  There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

Deu 5:7  "You shall have no other gods before me.

Deu 6:14  Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you;

Deu 7:4  for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD's anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.

Deu 7:16  You must destroy all the peoples the LORD your God gives over to you. Do not look on them with pity and do not serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

Deu 7:25  The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the LORD your God.

Deu 8:19  If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.

Deu 10:17  For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

Deu 11:16  Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.

Deu 11:28  the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

Deu 12:2  Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods.

Deu 12:3  Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places.

Deu 12:30  and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, "How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same."

Deu 12:31  You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

Deu 13:2  and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them,"

Deu 13:6  If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known,

Deu 13:7  gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other),

Deu 13:13  that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods you have not known),

Deu 17:3  and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars in the sky,

Deu 18:20  But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death."

Deu 20:18  Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God.

Deu 28:14  Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

Deu 28:36  The LORD will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone.

Deu 28:64  Then the LORD will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods--gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

Deu 29:18  Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

Deu 29:26  They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

Deu 30:17  But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,

Deu 31:16  And the LORD said to Moses: "You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.

Deu 31:18  And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.

Deu 31:20  When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.

Deu 32:16  They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.

Deu 32:17  They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God-- gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear.

Deu 32:37  He will say: "Now where are their gods, the rock they took refuge in,

Deu 32:38  the gods who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up to help you! Let them give you shelter!

Jos 23:7  Do not associate with these nations that remain among you; do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them. You must not serve them or bow down to them.

Jos 23:16  If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the LORD's anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."

Jos 24:2  Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

Jos 24:14  "Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

Jos 24:15  But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Jos 24:16  Then the people answered, "Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!

Jos 24:20  If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you."

Jos 24:23  "Now then," said Joshua, "throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel."

Jdg 2:3  And I have also said, 'I will not drive them out before you; they will become traps for you, and their gods will become snares to you.'"

Jdg 2:12  They forsook the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the LORD's anger

Jdg 2:17  Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. They quickly turned from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the LORD's commands.

Jdg 2:19  But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.

Jdg 3:6  They took their daughters in marriage and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

Jdg 6:10  I said to you, 'I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.' But you have not listened to me."

Jdg 9:9  "But the olive tree answered, 'Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and humans are honored, to hold sway over the trees?'

Jdg 9:13  "But the vine answered, 'Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and humans, to hold sway over the trees?'

Jdg 10:6  Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD. They served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines. And because the Israelites forsook the LORD and no longer served him,

Jdg 10:13  But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.

Jdg 10:14  Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!"

Jdg 10:16  Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the LORD. And he could bear Israel's misery no longer.

Jdg 17:5  Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some household gods and installed one of his sons as his priest.

Jdg 18:14  Then the five men who had spied out the land of Laish said to their fellow Danites, "Do you know that one of these houses has an ephod, some household gods and an image overlaid with silver? Now you know what to do."

Jdg 18:17  The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance of the gate.

Jdg 18:18  When the five men went into Micah's house and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods, the priest said to them, "What are you doing?"

Jdg 18:20  The priest was very pleased. He took the ephod, the household gods and the idol and went along with the people.

Jdg 18:24  He replied, "You took the gods I made, and my priest, and went away. What else do I have? How can you ask, 'What's the matter with you?'"

Rth 1:15  "Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her."

1Sa 4:8  We're doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.

1Sa 6:5  Make models of the tumors and of the rats that are destroying the country, and give glory to Israel's god. Perhaps he will lift his hand from you and your gods and your land.

1Sa 7:3  So Samuel said to all the Israelites, "If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."

1Sa 8:8  As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

1Sa 17:43  He said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

1Sa 26:19  Now let my lord the king listen to his servant's words. If the LORD has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the LORD! They have driven me today from my share in the LORD's inheritance and have said, 'Go, serve other gods.'

2Sa 7:23  And who is like your people Israel--the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?

1Ki 9:6  "But if you or your descendants turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them,

1Ki 9:9  People will answer, 'Because they have forsaken the LORD their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them--that is why the LORD brought all this disaster on them.'"

1Ki 11:2  They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.

1Ki 11:4  As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

1Ki 11:8  He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods.

1Ki 11:10  Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD's command.

1Ki 12:28  After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to the people, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

1Ki 14:9  You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made for yourself other gods, idols made of metal; you have aroused my anger and turned your back on me.

1Ki 19:2  So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them."

1Ki 20:10  Then Ben-Hadad sent another message to Ahab: "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if enough dust remains in Samaria to give each of my men a handful."

1Ki 20:23  Meanwhile, the officials of the king of Aram advised him, "Their gods are gods of the hills. That is why they were too strong for us. But if we fight them on the plains, surely we will be stronger than they.

2Ki 17:7  All this took place because the Israelites had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of Egypt from under the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They worshiped other gods

2Ki 17:29  Nevertheless, each national group made its own gods in the several towns where they settled, and set them up in the shrines the people of Samaria had made at the high places.

2Ki 17:31  the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire as sacrifices to Adrammelek and Anammelek, the gods of Sepharvaim.

2Ki 17:33  They worshiped the LORD, but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought.

2Ki 17:35  When the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them: "Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them.

2Ki 17:37  You must always be careful to keep the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands he wrote for you. Do not worship other gods.

2Ki 17:38  Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods.

2Ki 18:34  Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand?

2Ki 18:35  Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?"

2Ki 19:12  Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my predecessors deliver them--the gods of Gozan, Harran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?

2Ki 19:18  They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.

2Ki 22:17  Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.'

2Ki 23:24  Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the LORD.

2Ch 13:8  "And now you plan to resist the kingdom of the LORD, which is in the hands of David's descendants. You are indeed a vast army and have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made to be your gods.

2Ch 13:9  But didn't you drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make priests of your own as the peoples of other lands do? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams may become a priest of what are not gods.

2Ch 25:14  When Amaziah returned from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir. He set them up as his own gods, bowed down to them and burned sacrifices to them.

2Ch 25:15  The anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said, "Why do you consult this people's gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?"

2Ch 25:20  Amaziah, however, would not listen, for God so worked that he might deliver them into the hands of Jehoash, because they sought the gods of Edom.

2Ch 28:23  He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, "Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me." But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.

2Ch 32:14  Who of all the gods of these nations that my predecessors destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god deliver you from my hand?

2Ch 32:17  The king also wrote letters ridiculing the LORD, the God of Israel, and saying this against him: "Just as the gods of the peoples of the other lands did not rescue their people from my hand, so the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my hand."
