False Prophets

1Ki13:18The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the LORD: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (But he was lying to him.)

Isa44:28who foils the signs of false prophets    and makes fools of diviners,
Jer23:13”Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by baal and led My people Israel astray

Jer23:14And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none of them turn from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to Me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah

Jer23:15Therefore, this is what the lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: I will make them eat bitter food and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”

Jer23:16This is what the lord Almighty says: “Do not listen what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.

Jer23:17They keep saying to those who despise me, “The Lord says: You will have peace.’ And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’

Jer23:18But which of them has stood in the council of the Lord to see or to hear His word? Who has listened and heard His word

Jer23:19See, the storm of the Lord will burst out in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down on the heads of the wicked

Jer23:20The anger of The Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purpose of his heart. In days to come you will understand it clearly

Jer23:21I did not sent these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.

Jer23:22But if they had stood in My council, they wood have proclaimed My words to My people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.

Jer23:23Am I only a God nearby,” declares The Lord, “and not a God far away?

Jer23:24Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?’ declares The Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares The Lord

Jer23:25I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in My Name. They say, I had a dream! I had a dream!

Jer23:26How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who profesy the delusions of their own minds

Jer23:27They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot My Name through baal worship.

Jer23:28Let the prophets who have dreams tell their dreams, but let the one who has My word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord

Jer23:29Is not My Word like fire,” declares The Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

Jer23:30”Therefore,” declares The Lord, “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from Me.

Jer23:31”Yes,” declares The Lord, I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, ’the Lord declares.’

Jer23:32Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, “declares the Lord. “They tell them and lead My people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least, “declares the Lord.

Jer29.8Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have.

Jer29.9They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them,” declares the LORD.

Eze13:2“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: ‘Hear the word of the LORD!

Eze13:3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolishprophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

Eze13:4 Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

Eze13:6Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the LORD has not sent them, they say, “The LORD declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words.

Eze13:7Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The LORD declares,” though I have not spoken?

Eze13:8 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Eze13:9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

Eze13:10 “‘Because they lead my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,

Eze13:11 therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.

Eze13:12 When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, “Where is the whitewash you covered it with?”

Mt7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

Mt7:16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

Mt7:17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

Mt7:18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Mt7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Mt7:20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Mt24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

Mk13:22 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Lk6:26Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

2Cor11:13For such persons are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

2Pe2:1But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.

2Pe2:2Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.

2Pe2:3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

1Jn4:1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Rev16:13Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet

Rev19:20But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

Rev20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
