Elijah

1Ki_17:1  Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."

1Ki_17:2  Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:

1Ki_17:13  Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.

1Ki_17:15  She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.

1Ki_17:16  For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.

1Ki_17:18  She said to Elijah, "What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?"

1Ki_17:19  "Give me your son," Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.

1Ki_17:22  The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived.

1Ki_17:23  Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"

1Ki_17:24  Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."

1Ki_18:1  After a long time, in the third year, the word of the LORD came to Elijah: "Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land."

1Ki_18:2  So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria,

1Ki_18:7  As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed down to the ground, and said, "Is it really you, my lord Elijah?"

1Ki_18:8  "Yes," he replied. "Go tell your master, 'Elijah is here.'"

1Ki_18:11  But now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.'

1Ki_18:14  And now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.' He will kill me!"

1Ki_18:15  Elijah said, "As the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today."

1Ki_18:16  So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

1Ki_18:17  When he saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"

1Ki_18:18  "I have not made trouble for Israel," Elijah replied. "But you and your father's family have. You have abandoned the LORD's commands and have followed the Baals.

1Ki_18:21  Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.

1Ki_18:22  Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD's prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.

1Ki_18:25  Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire."

1Ki_18:27  At noon Elijah began to taunt them. "Shout louder!" he said. "Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened."

1Ki_18:30  Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD, which had been torn down.

1Ki_18:31  Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Your name shall be Israel."

1Ki_18:36  At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

1Ki_18:40  Then Elijah commanded them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Don't let anyone get away!" They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.

1Ki_18:41  And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain."

1Ki_18:42  So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

1Ki_18:43  "Go and look toward the sea," he told his servant. And he went up and looked. "There is nothing there," he said. Seven times Elijah said, "Go back."

1Ki_18:44  The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'"

1Ki_18:46  The power of the LORD came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

1Ki_19:1  Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.

1Ki_19:2  So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them."

1Ki_19:3  Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,

1Ki_19:9  There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

1Ki_19:13  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

1Ki_19:19  So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him.

1Ki_19:20  Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. "Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye," he said, "and then I will come with you." "Go back," Elijah replied. "What have I done to you?"

1Ki_19:21  So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.

1Ki_21:17  Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite:

1Ki_21:20  Ahab said to Elijah, "So you have found me, my enemy!" "I have found you," he answered, "because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD.

1Ki_21:28  Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite:

2Ki_1:3  But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, "Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?'

2Ki_1:4  Therefore this is what the LORD says: 'You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!'" So Elijah went.

2Ki_1:8  They replied, "He had a garment of hair and had a leather belt around his waist." The king said, "That was Elijah the Tishbite."

2Ki_1:9  Then he sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him, "Man of God, the king says, 'Come down!'"

2Ki_1:10  Elijah answered the captain, "If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!" Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.

2Ki_1:11  At this the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. The captain said to him, "Man of God, this is what the king says, 'Come down at once!'"

2Ki_1:12  "If I am a man of God," Elijah replied, "may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!" Then the fire of God fell from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

2Ki_1:13  So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah. "Man of God," he begged, "please have respect for my life and the lives of these fifty men, your servants!

2Ki_1:15  The angel of the LORD said to Elijah, "Go down with him; do not be afraid of him." So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.

2Ki_1:17  So he died, according to the word of the LORD that Elijah had spoken. Because Ahaziah had no son, Joram succeeded him as king in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

2Ki_2:1  When the LORD was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal.

2Ki_2:2  Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here; the LORD has sent me to Bethel." But Elisha said, "As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So they went down to Bethel.

2Ki_2:4  Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, Elisha; the LORD has sent me to Jericho." And he replied, "As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So they went to Jericho.

2Ki_2:6  Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here; the LORD has sent me to the Jordan." And he replied, "As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So the two of them walked on.

2Ki_2:7  Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan.

2Ki_2:8  Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

2Ki_2:9  When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, "Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?" "Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit," Elisha replied.

2Ki_2:10  "You have asked a difficult thing," Elijah said, "yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours--otherwise, it will not."

2Ki_2:11  As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

2Ki_2:13  Elisha then picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

2Ki_2:14  He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. "Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over.

2Ki_2:15  The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, "The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha." And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

2Ki_3:11  But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?" An officer of the king of Israel answered, "Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah."

2Ki_9:36  They went back and told Jehu, who said, "This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel's flesh.

2Ki_10:10  Know, then, that not a word the LORD has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The LORD has done what he announced through his servant Elijah."

2Ki_10:17  When Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab's family; he destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD spoken to Elijah.

1Ch_8:27  Jaareshiah, Elijah and Zikri were the sons of Jeroham.

2Ch_21:12  Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said: "This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: 'You have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah.

Ezr_10:21  From the descendants of Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel and Uzziah.

Ezr_10:26  From the descendants of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth and Elijah.

Mal_4:5  "See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.

Mat_11:14  And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.

Mat_16:14  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

Mat_17:3  Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

Mat_17:4  Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."

Mat_17:10  The disciples asked him, "Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?"

Mat_17:11  Jesus replied, "To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.

Mat_17:12  But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."

Mat_27:47  When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."

Mat_27:49  The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."

Mar_6:15  Others said, "He is Elijah." And still others claimed, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago."

Mar_8:28  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."

Mar_9:4  And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.

Mar_9:5  Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."

Mar_9:11  And they asked him, "Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?"

Mar_9:12  Jesus replied, "To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected?

Mar_9:13  But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him."

Mar_15:35  When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Listen, he's calling Elijah."

Mar_15:36  Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down," he said.

Luk_1:17  And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous--to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

Luk_4:25  I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.

Luk_4:26  Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.

Luk_9:8  others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.

Luk_9:19  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life."

Luk_9:30  Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.

Luk_9:33  As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what he was saying.)

Joh_1:21  They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."

Joh_1:25  questioned him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"

Rom_11:2  God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah--how he appealed to God against Israel:

Jas_5:17  Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
