My Father

Gen_19:34  The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I slept with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father."

Gen_20:12  Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife.

Gen_20:13  And when God had me wander from my father's household, I said to her, 'This is how you can show your love to me: Everywhere we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"

Gen_24:7  "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land'--he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

Gen_24:38  but go to my father's family and to my own clan, and get a wife for my son.'

Gen_24:40  "He replied, 'The LORD, before whom I have walked faithfully, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father's family.

Gen_27:12  What if my father touches me? I would appear to be tricking him and would bring down a curse on myself rather than a blessing."

Gen_27:18  He went to his father and said, "My father." "Yes, my son," he answered. "Who is it?"

Gen_27:31  He too prepared some tasty food and brought it to his father. Then he said to him, "My father, please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your blessing."

Gen_27:34  When Esau heard his father's words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, "Bless me--me too, my father!"

Gen_27:38  Esau said to his father, "Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!" Then Esau wept aloud.

Gen_27:41  Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, "The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob."

Gen_28:21  so that I return safely to my father's household, then the LORD will be my God

Gen_31:5  He said to them, "I see that your father's attitude toward me is not what it was before, but the God of my father has been with me.

Gen_31:42  If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands, and last night he rebuked you."

Gen_32:9  Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, LORD, you who said to me, 'Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,'

Gen_41:51  Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, "It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household."

Gen_44:24  When we went back to your servant my father, we told him what my lord had said.

Gen_44:27  "Your servant my father said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons.

Gen_44:30  "So now, if the boy is not with us when I go back to your servant my father, and if my father, whose life is closely bound up with the boy's life,

Gen_44:32  Your servant guaranteed the boy's safety to my father. I said, 'If I do not bring him back to you, I will bear the blame before you, my father, all my life!'

Gen_44:34  How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come on my father."

Gen_45:3  Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Is my father still living?" But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence.

Gen_45:9  Now hurry back to my father and say to him, 'This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don't delay.

Gen_45:13  Tell my father about all the honor accorded me in Egypt and about everything you have seen. And bring my father down here quickly."

Gen_46:31  Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, "I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, 'My brothers and my father's household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

Gen_47:1  Joseph went and told Pharaoh, "My father and brothers, with their flocks and herds and everything they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in Goshen."

Gen_48:18  Joseph said to him, "No, my father, this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head."

Gen_50:5  'My father made me swear an oath and said, "I am about to die; bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan." Now let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.'"

Exo_15:2  "The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Exo_18:4  and the other was named Eliezer, for he said, "My father's God was my helper; he saved me from the sword of Pharaoh."

Deu_26:5  Then you shall declare before the LORD your God: "My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.

Jos_2:13  that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them--and that you will save us from death."

Jdg_9:17  Remember that my father fought for you and risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian.

Jdg_9:18  But today you have revolted against my father's family. You have murdered his seventy sons on a single stone and have made Abimelek, the son of his female slave, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is related to you.

Jdg_11:7  Jephthah said to them, "Didn't you hate me and drive me from my father's house? Why do you come to me now, when you're in trouble?"

Jdg_11:36  "My father," she replied, "you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites.

Jdg_14:16  Then Samson's wife threw herself on him, sobbing, "You hate me! You don't really love me. You've given my people a riddle, but you haven't told me the answer." "I haven't even explained it to my father or mother," he replied, "so why should I explain it to you?"

Jdg_17:10  Then Micah said to him, "Live with me and be my father and priest, and I'll give you ten shekels of silver a year, your clothes and your food."

1Sa_9:5  When they reached the district of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with him, "Come, let's go back, or my father will stop thinking about the donkeys and start worrying about us."

1Sa_14:29  Jonathan said, "My father has made trouble for the country. See how my eyes brightened when I tasted a little of this honey.

1Sa_19:2  and warned him, "My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding and stay there.

1Sa_19:3  I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. I'll speak to him about you and will tell you what I find out."

1Sa_20:2  "Never!" Jonathan replied. "You are not going to die! Look, my father doesn't do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why would he hide this from me? It isn't so!"

1Sa_20:9  "Never!" Jonathan said. "If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldn't I tell you?"

1Sa_20:12  Then Jonathan said to David, "I swear by the LORD, the God of Israel, that I will surely sound out my father by this time the day after tomorrow! If he is favorably disposed toward you, will I not send you word and let you know?

1Sa_20:13  But if my father intends to harm you, may the LORD deal with Jonathan, be it ever so severely, if I do not let you know and send you away in peace. May the LORD be with you as he has been with my father.

1Sa_22:3  From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab, "Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?"

1Sa_23:17  "Don't be afraid," he said. "My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this."

1Sa_24:11  See, my father, look at this piece of your robe in my hand! I cut off the corner of your robe but did not kill you. See that there is nothing in my hand to indicate that I am guilty of wrongdoing or rebellion. I have not wronged you, but you are hunting me down to take my life.

1Sa_24:21  Now swear to me by the LORD that you will not kill off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father's family."

2Sa_3:7  Now Saul had had a concubine named Rizpah daughter of Aiah. And Ish-Bosheth said to Abner, "Why did you sleep with my father's concubine?"

2Sa_19:37  Let your servant return, that I may die in my own town near the tomb of my father and mother. But here is your servant Kimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king. Do for him whatever you wish."

1Ki_2:24  And now, as surely as the LORD lives--he who has established me securely on the throne of my father David and has founded a dynasty for me as he promised--Adonijah shall be put to death today!"

1Ki_2:26  To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign LORD before my father David and shared all my father's hardships."

1Ki_2:32  The LORD will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them--Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army--were better men and more upright than he.

1Ki_2:44  The king also said to Shimei, "You know in your heart all the wrong you did to my father David. Now the LORD will repay you for your wrongdoing.

1Ki_3:6  Solomon answered, "You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.

1Ki_3:7  "Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.

1Ki_5:3  "You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD put his enemies under his feet.

1Ki_5:5  I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God, as the LORD told my father David, when he said, 'Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.'

1Ki_8:15  Then he said: "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled what he promised with his own mouth to my father David. For he said,

1Ki_8:17  "My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

1Ki_8:18  But the LORD said to my father David, 'You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.

1Ki_8:20  "The LORD has kept the promise he made: I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

1Ki_8:24  You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it--as it is today.

1Ki_8:25  "Now LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, 'You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully as you have done.'

1Ki_8:26  And now, God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David my father come true.

1Ki_12:10  The young men who had grown up with him replied, "These people have said to you, 'Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but make our yoke lighter.' Now tell them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.

1Ki_12:11  My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.'"

1Ki_12:14  he followed the advice of the young men and said, "My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions."

1Ki_15:19  "Let there be a treaty between me and you," he said, "as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you a gift of silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me."

1Ki_19:20  Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. "Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye," he said, "and then I will come with you." "Go back," Elijah replied. "What have I done to you?"

1Ki_20:34  "I will return the cities my father took from your father," Ben-Hadad offered. "You may set up your own market areas in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria." Ahab said, "On the basis of a treaty I will set you free." So he made a treaty with him, and let him go.

2Ki_2:12  Elisha saw this and cried out, "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.

2Ki_5:13  Naaman's servants went to him and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, 'Wash and be cleansed'!"

2Ki_6:21  When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, "Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?"

2Ki_13:14  Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. "My father! My father!" he cried. "The chariots and horsemen of Israel!"

1Ch_28:4  "Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah as leader, and from the tribe of Judah he chose my family, and from my father's sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.

2Ch_1:8  Solomon answered God, "You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place.

2Ch_1:9  Now, LORD God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth.

2Ch_2:3  Solomon sent this message to Hiram king of Tyre: "Send me cedar logs as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in.

2Ch_2:7  "Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers, whom my father David provided.

2Ch_6:4  Then he said: "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said,

2Ch_6:7  "My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

2Ch_6:8  But the LORD said to my father David, 'You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.

2Ch_6:10  "The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

2Ch_6:15  You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it--as it is today.

2Ch_6:16  "Now, LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, 'You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.'

2Ch_10:10  The young men who had grown up with him replied, "The people have said to you, 'Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but make our yoke lighter.' Now tell them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.

2Ch_10:11  My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.'"

2Ch_10:14  he followed the advice of the young men and said, "My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions."

2Ch_16:3  "Let there be a treaty between me and you," he said, "as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me."
